Galway Bay fm newsroom – Two young men will be ordained to the priesthood by Bishop of Galway, Martin Drennan at Galway Cathedral tomorrow. (Wed 6/1)
John O’ Halloran from Killannin in Oughterard and Michael King from Renmore will then be appointed to minister in the Diocese of Galway, Kilmacduagh and Kilfenora.
John O’ Halloran is the son of Bridgie and John and has two sisters and a brother.
He attended GMIT and was greenkeeper in Oughterard Golf Club for 7 years before studying for the priesthood in Maynooth in 2009.
Michael King from Renmore is the youngest of 6 children, having four older sisters and an older brother.
His first job was at Park House in the city and he also worked in Dubai, before coming home and joining Galway Youth Theatre.
Before entering his studies for the priesthood, Michael worked as a bar man in Cuba and Central Park nightclub.
The ordination ceremony will take place at Galway Cathedral at 3p.m tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Daniel Gallagher from Bohermore will be ordained a priest on July 17th.
Galway Cathedral underwent significant refurbishment work last year for its 50th Jubilee celebration.
Bishop of Galway, Martin Drennan says the cathedral is looking well ahead of tomorrow’s ordinations.
