Galway Bay fm newsroom – Public consultation meetings will take place in Ballinasloe and Ahascragh next week to discuss new flood maps for each area.
It’s part of the River Shannon CFRAM survey, which aims to compile up-to-date and accurate flood mapping across the Shannon catchment region on behalf of the Office of Public Works.
The public consultation meetings will discuss preliminary options which could be used to manage flood risk in the Ballinasloe and Ahascragh areas.
The Ballinasloe meeting gets underway on Monday at 2pm in the Civic Offices at Bridge Street.
The Ahascragh meeting also takes place on Monday and will be held at Clinton’s Pub at 2pm on Monday.
OPW Minister Simon Harris says the CFRAM process will ensure that flooding in the Shannon region is adequately managed.
