Galway Bay fm newsroom – The new library building in Ballinasloe has been officially opened in the town.
County Cathaoirleach Peter Roche this afternoon launched the new building which has been operating since last November.
The former Mercy Convent and church was bought by the county council almost a decade ago.
Funds used to restore the building came from the council and from Greenstar which operated the landfill at Kilconnell.
The library hub also contains community meeting rooms, offices and the Europe Direct Centre.
County Librarian Peter Rabbitte says it’s an incredible day for the entire community.
