Galway Bay fm newsroom – Approval has been given for an expansion of Galway Hospice in Renmore.
The City Council has granted planning permission for a 6 bed temporary extension to the facility.
The extension of Galway Hospice will require the demolition of an existing storage shed at the site.
There are 13 conditions attached to the planning permission including that work can’t begin until a tree survey and tree protection plan is carried out.
Earlier this year 2 million euro was sanctioned for Galway Hospice to cover operational costs for the next 18 months.
There are plans for a 26-bed hospice at a greenfield site at Merlin Park, but funding for this project has yet to be secured.
