Galway Bay fm newsroom – NUI Galway and Galway University Hospitals have teamed up in a bid to improve the standard of care delivered to young people with Type 1 Diabetes.
A research team has carried out a systematic review of international literature, which has been published in the journal, Diabetic Medicine.
The research, which is funded by the Health Research Board, highlights a lack of high-quality interventions which could improve health outcomes for patients aged 15 to 30.
The team says this age group often experience poor outcomes because of issues with self-management skills, clinic attendance and adherence to treatment recommendations.
