Galway Bay fm newsroom – High winds and heavy rain expected this bank holiday weekend may lead to flooding in some areas of the city.
Galway City Council has issued a warning that strong weather conditions will come into effect tomorrow evening and Monday morning.
Met Eireann is predicting that winds of over 25 kilometers per hour will hit the county on Monday, alongside persistent rain throughout the day.
Galway County Council is advising that there is potential for waves to overtop at Salthill, while Toft Carpark may be at risk of flooding.
The carpark made national headlines last year when images of half submerged cars went viral following major flooding in Salthill in January of 2014.
Meanwhile, the aqua-dam remains deployed at Spanish Arch ahead of this weekends adverse weather conditions.
The anti-flooding measure was deployed last month to deal with the highest tides seen in Galway City in over two decades.
