Galway Bay fm newsroom – A major undersea electricity cable between Galway and Inis Mor has been fully repaired.
Inis Meain and Inis Oirr were left without power for four days in August due to a major fault on the cable.
The islanders had been using power from two 36-tonne generators which were shipped in to Inis Oirr following the outage.
Galway West TD and Gaeltacht Minister Sean Kyne says the cable required complex repairs involving a specialised diving pod and specially trained divers.
The underwater electrical link has now been re-energised.
