Galway Bay fm newsroom – A test excavation is to take place tomorrow at the site of a former mother and baby home in Tuam.
The excavation has been arranged by the Mother and Baby Homes Commission of Investigation at the site of the ‘Children’s Burial Ground-Memorial Garden’.
It says the purpose of the excavation is to resolve a number of queries that it has in relation to the interment of human remains at the location.
A fraction of the site will be excavated through test trenches and is expected to last for approximately 5 weeks.
Works are taking place with the full co-operation of An Garda Síochána.
