Galway and Roscommon finish level at Pearse Stadium

Galway and Roscommon must do it all again after a they finished level in dreadful conditions in the Connacht Football Final at Pearse Stadium.

A goal on 15 minutes from Enda Smith saw Roscommon lead by 1-6 to 0-6 at half time having played with the strong wind and rain at their backs in the opening half.

Galway struggled to break down the Roscommon blanket defence but managed to lead by 2 points with 67 minutes gone when substitute Adrian Varley pointed.

However, they failed to drive on and Roscommon came back to level matters with two late points from Cathal Cregg and Senan Kilbride.

The replay will be next Saturday at Castlebar  due to works being carried out at Hyde Park.

Gary O’Donnell, the Galway captain was named as the Galway Bay FM Man of the Match.
