Galway Bay fm newsroom – A public meeting in the city next week is set to finalise the opening of the long-awaited Ballinfoile Castlegar Neighbourhood Centre.
The new facility was officially opened last month following a local campaign spanning almost three decades.
The hard-sought facility was the subject of numerous public meetings, petitions and discussions since local activists began their campaign 1987.
There were concerns over the management of the state-of-the-art centre, with locals campaigning against the possible privatisation of the amenity.
Following months of consultations, the Center Support Committee is now due to present an action plan for the development and management of the facility to local residents.
Full details of the plan will be unveiled at a public meeting at the Menlo Park Hotel next Tuesday July 5th at 7.30pm.
Veteran campaigner and committee member Brendan Smith says the meeting is the culmination of decades of tireless work.
