Galway Bay Fm newsroom-Roscommon county councillor Maura Hopkins is to contest the Seanad elections following an unsuccessful Dáil bid in the Roscommon-Galway constituency.
The 30 year old from Edmondstown, Ballaghaderreen (PRON: Balla-ha-dreen) currently works with stroke patients as an Occupational Therapist.
The councillor contested the general election for Fine Gael, and narrowly missed out on the third seat.
Maura Hopkins says as a young woman, she would bring new energy and a fresh, strong voice to the Seanad.
