City and county fire crews called to a number of incidents

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Fire crews in the city and county were alerted to a number of emergencies last night and this morning. (18/3)

In the latest incident, two units of Loughrea fire brigade attended the scene of a fire at the post office at Main Street in the town this morning.

The alert was raised around 6.15a.m and fire crews had dealt with the small fire within 15 minutes and no-one was injured.

Meanwhile, last night at about a quarter to 8, the city fire brigade attended a small fire near Quincentennary Bridge.

The crews brought the bonfire or grass fire under control very quickly.

Clifden fire brigade battled a gorse fire in the Connemara area for more than an hour last night. (17/3)

The blaze broke out in the Carna area around 8.30p.m and fire crews had the situation under control by 10p.m.

No-one was injured in any of the incidents.
