Galway Bay fm newsroom – A petition with more than 500 signatures appealing for safety measures in the village of Corrandulla has been presented to members of the Oranmore/Athenry Municipal District.
A delegation from the area met with councillors and officials at County Hall, Prospect Hill earlier to deliver the petition.
Councillor James Charity says the area has become increasingly busy in recent years and the speed of some vehicles through the village is hazardous.
Locals are appealing to the county council to erect traffic lights in a bid to resolve the situation.
Tom Creaven from the local group in Corrandulla told Keith Finnegan that there is a serious risk to the safety of schoolchildren.
