Galway Bay fm newsroom – A planned extension to the Menlo Park Hotel in the city has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
J. Francis had been awarded planning permission for the construction of a three-storey extension to the north, east and south corners of the existing hotel.
The extension to the Menlo Park Hotel at the Headford Road would provide an additional 12 hotel rooms, and an enlarged bar and restaurant area.
The decision is now subject to a third party appeal.
The appellant claims the original application for permission provided an inaccurate assessment of parking spaces for cars and buses at the hotel.
The appeal also argues that the existing parking facilities at the hotel are already in contravention of the City Development Plan due to zoning issues.
An Bord Pleanála is due to make a decision in May.
