Galway Bay fm newsroom – Salthill prom has now closed to traffic as a result of worsening weather conditions.
The prom was due to close to all traffic at 12pm, but the council postponed the closure to monitor the weather conditions and tides.
Due to strengthening winds and rain, the prom is now closed to all traffic, and diversions are in place.
The road is closed from the junction of Grattan Road and Dr. Colohan Road, along the Promenade by the Aquarium, along the main Salthill Road from the Darcy Roundabout to the junction with Threadneedle Road at Blackrock.
Local access only is allowed via Dr Mannix road and Rockbarton road.
