Public urged to stay away from coast as Storm Eva hits county

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Met Éireann has issued two wind warnings – valid from early this afternoon- as Storm Eva is expected to hit the county.

An orange alert is in place for Galway, Donegal, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork and Kerry – with southerly winds gusting up to 110 kilometres per hour –  expected.

The weather forecast is also warning of stronger winds – gusting up to 120 kilometres per hour at times- likely between 4 and 10 o’clock tonight.

Meanwhile, a yellow alert is in place for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.

Winds gusting up to 110 kilometres per hour are likely to develop.

Head of Forecasting at Met Eireann Gerald Fleming, says today’s storm won’t be as severe as Desmond.
