Storm Eva could cause localised flooding in Galway

Galway Bay fm newsroom – There is a possibilty of localised flooding this evening as Storm Eva makes landfall.

Winds of up to 120km per hour are expected to batter the county from this afternoon.

The West and North-West will be worst hit – Met Éireann has issued an orange weather warning for Galway, Donegal, Mayo, Sligo and Clare.

There’s a yellow warning for the rest of the country.

Deirdre Lowe from Met Eireann says there may be some flooding but the storm will clear overnight.

Local authorities are taking precautions to protect flood-prone areas due to high tides also.

Junior Minister for the OPW Simon Harris says he is working on a co-ordinated approach to help flooding victims.
