Galway Bay Fm newsroom- President Michael D. Higgins will be back on familiar ground when he returns to Galway this Monday for three official functions.
The President will arrive in the city shortly before mid-day and his first function will be at noon in the Westside when he visits Scoil Bhride in Shantalla.
At 4.30 President Higgins will be in the Galway Film Centre at Cluain Mhuire, Wellpark Road where he will be presented with an inaugural award in honour of Galway becoming a UNESCO City of Film.
Galway is one of only five cities in the world to achieve this much sought-after status, and along with Dublin, (for Literature) is only the second Irish City to be recogonised by UNESCO.
At 6.30 President Higgins will perform his final official function of the day in Galway when he delivers a lecture at the opening of the Institute for Lifecourse and Society at NUIG.
