Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Government’s Action Plan for Jobs will focus on supporting Galway’s film industry and exploring the potential for a Regional Film Fund.

The Taoiseach and the Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton, launched the quarter of a million euro jobs strategy for Galway, Mayo and Roscommon today.(16/11)

Key sectors targeted as part of the plan include agri-food, tourism, medtech, ICT and pharmaceutical.

IDA Ireland also plans to build a new Advanced Technology Building in Galway which will be completed by 2017.

There are 600 people employed in the film and t.v sector in Galway and it’s thought this endorsement by the government could double that figure.

Director of Galway UNESCO City of Film, Declan Gibbons has told Galway Bay fm News that this could change the entire sector in the west.

Jobs Minister Richard Bruton says the plan, which hopes to create 25 thousand jobs in the three counties, is dependent on people coming up with strong business ideas.
