Galway Bay fm newsroom – A decision on plans for the multimillion euro expansion of Galway Harbour has been postponed for another month.
A decision on the project was due from An Bord Pleanála today, but a new date of October 9th has now been set.
The expansion of Galway Docks involves the reclamation of 27 hectares from the foreshore and sea bed and the relocation of activities to new quays, jetties and yards.
An oral hearing on the harbour development was held last January, where it was outlined that the project would take 8 years to complete.
It’s hoped the expansion of the docks could lead to increased cruise liner business and a link up for freight with Ceannt station.
A decision date of September 11th had been indicated by An Bord Pleanála, but this has now been revised to October 9th.
