Galway Bay fm newsroom – Gardaí in the county are advising bank users to be vigilant when withdrawing cash from ATMs.
Ballinasloe gardaí recently discovered a false front fitted to an ATM machine in the town.
This type of device can be used to skim ATM cards and later withdraw money from accounts.
It comes at the same time as a phone scam which has targetted people in the county over the past few weeks.
The culprits purport to be from Revenue and request bank information to settle overdue debts.
People are advised not to provide any financial information over the phone.
