Galway Bay fm newsroom – A protest march will take place in the city tomorrow week following the cancellation of a number of busy city bus routes. (Friday 25.11)
It follows the cancellation of services from Westside to Claddagh, Scoil Einde to Seacreast, and Claddagh to Westside via Salthill – which were pulled after the Halloween mid-term.
Many of the services were used as school transport by children attending schools across the city.
According to city councillor Mike Cubbard, Bus Eireann claims it cannot continue the services as they are outside its public service agreement.
He says the National Transport Authority and Transport Minister Shane Ross have failed to come up with a solution.
A ‘Save Our Bus’ protest march led by the Claddagh School band will take place at 9.30am tomorrow week to highlight the issue.
Councillor Cubbard says signatures are also being collected for a petition to be submitted to Bus Eireann management.
