County Wall Ball Championships In Corrundulla

The County Wall Ball (formally known as One Wall) Championships were held on Sunday 23^rd October in Corrundulla Community Centre. Competition started early Sunday morning with the final games finishing up late that afternoon. It resulted in many exciting games throughout an action packed day to the delight of players and supporters alike.

Having Corrundulla Community Centre as a venue which includes four courts gives an indication how lucky we are to have such a fantastic facility available in the county. Many thanks to Eric O’Brien for keeping things running smoothly on the day and to all the refs, linesmen, the refreshments team and to all players and clubs for their co-operation. There was some great handball on show all day long.

The County board would like to acknowledge the hard work of John Hession, Annaghdown Handball Club, Annaghdown Parish Council, Leo Murphy and John Harkin. Also to those who sponsored the actual walls: Creavens Costcutters, Corrandulla and Regan’s, Clonboo.

The winners then went on to represent Galway in the Connacht Wall Ball Championships on the October Bank Holiday Monday.

Apart from the U13 grade, all other provincial winners met in the All-Ireland Wall Ball finals last Saturday, November 12^th where four of our players had national success

Niamh Heffernan from Claregalway who won the U15 girls, Jason O’Toole from Inis Mór won the U15 boys, Diarmuid Mulkerrins from Moycullen won the U17 boys and Eimear Ní Bhiada from Micheál Breathnach won the ladies B title
