Congrats to the CCFC U18 girls on a fantastic win in Cork over a very fancied and well drilled Carrigaline United side.
Despite going behind early the CCFC girls battled back with Aoife Thompson pouncing on a defensive error to net the ball before adding another, finishing off a fine move to give CCFC a deserved 2:1 halftime lead.
Early in the 2nd half, Aoife completed her hat-trick before adding 2 more goals later in the half to give CCFC a 5:1 lead. Claire Conry then added a 6th direct from a brilliantly taken corner kick. It was a tremendous whole team performance with Aoife benefiting from excellent supply from many of her team mates. As usual, despite conceding a late consolation goal to Carrigaline the defence of Jordan O’Connor, Aoife Thompson, Rebecca Downes and Maeve O’Connell were very solid in front of keeper Karen Connolly. Across the middle, Emma Connolly, Claire Conry, Ciara Fogarty and Sinead O’Donovan controlled much of the game, providing plenty of good service to Aoife Thompson and Andrea Trill upfront who were a constant threat to the Carrigaline defence. Ciara Murphy, Emma Conacur and Deirdre Walsh contributed to maintain CCFC’s overall dominance when they came off the bench to add to the overall team performance that was the corner stone of this great win.

An Irish Cup semi final early in the new year, is the reward for this great performance and marks another landmark in the continuing evolution of Girls soccer in Cregmore Claregalway FC across all age groups.
Huge Congrats to the girls from a very proud management team of Gerry Gilmore, Noel Connolly & Paul Horkan
