Galway Bay fm newsroom – Unemployment across Galway has dropped by almost 5 percent over the past month.
There are currently just over 13,900 people out of work in the city and county – down from over 14,500 in September.
The biggest decrease in unemployment last month was in the city.
539 people came off the Live Register in October, leaving the city’s jobless figure at 7.041.
The next biggest decrease was in Ballinasloe where 25 people came off the register last month.
Ballinasloe’s unemployment figure now stands at 1,643.
In Loughrea, 32 people came off the Live Register in October, leaving just over 1,330 people out of work.
Gort’s jobless figure decreased by 16 last month – there are now 986 people unemployed in Gort.
Tuam and Clifden experienced slight increases in unemployment in October.
One extra person signed on in Clifden, leaving its Live Register figure at 773.
In Tuam, four extra people signed on in October.
There are now 2,130 people out of work in Tuam.
Overall, unemployment across the city and county has dropped by 12 percent in the past year.
