Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Health Minister is being asked to immediately commission a new report on the need for a replacement hospital for University Hospital Galway.
Speaking in the Seanad, Senator Trevor O’ Clochartaigh says the Government is underestimating both the current crisis and the severe need for a new hospital.
Local representatives have long-called for a new expanded hospital at Merlin Park – a position publicly supported by management at UHG in recent months.
However, Senator O’ Clochartaigh says despite general consensus, the Department of Health has made no attempt to address the situation.
Speaking in the Seanad, Sinn Fein Senator O’ Clochartaigh says the very least the Health Minister could do is commission a study.
