Galway Bay fm newsroom – The final touches are being applied to the Macnas Parade as it prepares to take to the Streets of Galway tomorrow evening.

This years festival is entitled ‘The Shadow Lighter’ and will explore the mystical act of transformation.

Spectators can expect all manners of creatures, the hallowed and the holy, the bewitched and bewildered and the wild to roam through the heart of the city.

The center-piece of this years parade will be ‘Danu’, the goddess of the divine and dark, and the brutal and beautiful.

Warrior and mother Danu will be joined by hundreds of performers and musicians who will follow in her wake as they make their way from Fisheries Field to Eglinton Street, then down Shop Street towards the Spanish Arch.

The ‘Shadow Lighter’ parade will set off from Fisheries Field across from Galway Cathedral tomorrow evening at 5.30.

Artistic Director Noeline Kavanagh says they’re extremely excited to bring their spectacle to the people of Galway.
