Galway Bay fm newsroom – The decision of a major data analytics company to locate its new centre of excellence at Parkmore places Galway at the centre of a ‘New Industrial Revolution.’

That’s according to Paul McDonald, CEO of Wood Group.

The company has today announced the creation of 10 jobs with the establishment of a new data analytics centre of excellence at its Parkmore office.

The move will see 10 new jobs created this year – with potential for further expansion.

CEO Paul McDonald says data analytics is changing the way business is done.

Meanwhile, a global medtech company says it had shortlisted locations in five different countries before it decided to base its European Headquarters in Galway.

Sahajan and Medical Technologies (SMT) is to establish its European HQ in Parkmore, creating 50 jobs.

SMT is the largest developer and manufacturer of minimally invasive coronary stent systems in India and supplies to around 60 countries in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

SMT spokesperson Gaurav Goel says Galway was chosen for its strong reputation in the medtech sector.
