Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Housing Minister has vowed to deliver 150 social housing units across Galway by the end of next year.
Minister Coveney says the city and county have very different needs in terms of housing, but his department is working to address the problem.
The minister is in Galway this afternoon as part of the government’s ‘Rebuilding Ireland’ roadshow.
This morning, he addressed a meeting of the County Council executive and SPC chairs on the government’s action plan to deal with housing and homelessness.
As part of his visit, Minister Coveney will open Threshold’s new Tenancy Protection Service office at Prospect Hill at 2.30 this afternoon.
Minister Coveney says delivering social housing is his top priority, and one of the major issues to be addressed is the refurbishment of vacant homes across Galway.
