Galway Bay fm newsroom – The President of NUI Galway says the university’s rise in world rankings will be a key factor in attracting more students from overseas.
The thirteenth edition of the QS World University Rankings places the university 249th in the international rankings – up 22 places.
It means NUI Galway is the third highest ranked institute in the country – behind Trinity College Dublin at 98th, and University College Dublin at 176th.
NUI Galway was the only Irish institute to improve its ranking prompting calls for more focused investment in the third level system.
The President of NUI Galway, Dr Jim Browne says the rise in rankings is likely to be a pull factor for international students.
