Galway Bay fm newsroom – Four men are in Garda custody following drug seizures in the city and in Tuam.
Two men were arrested in Wellpark this morning following the discovery of several thousand euros worth of cannabis at a house in the area.
It follows the arrest of two men in the Tuam area yesterday after a vehicle search revealed drugs, cash and stolen equipment.
Gardai in the Wellpark area of Galway City arrested two men this morning after Cannabis with an estimated street value of 5 thousand euro was seized during the search of a house.
The men, both 23 years of age, were arrested during what Gardai are describing as an intelligence led joint operation with the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Customs Service and the Galway Drugs Unit.
They’ve since been released and a file has been sent to the DPP.
It follows the arrest of two men at Farranmartin near Tuam yesterday afternoon during an operation planned as part of Operation Thor.
During a search of an intercepted vehicle, Gardai recovered cash, drugs and a quantity of stolen property including a camera, fishing equipment, phones and tobacco.
It’s believed that the items are the proceeds of criminal activity in counties Galway, Mayo and Clare in recent days.
The men, aged in their 20s and 40s, are currently detained at Tuam Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
