Archbishop of Tuam leads the estimated 25,000 people climbing Croagh Patrick today

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Up to 25,000 people from across Ireland are taking part in the annual climb of Croagh Patrick today,  which is being led by the Archbishop of Tuam Micheal Neary.

This year’s Reek Sunday homily is being delivered by Archbishop Charles J Brown, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland.

Father Fintan Monahan of Tuam, the Bishop elect of Killaloe as announced on Friday, has celebrated Mass as Gaeilge on the summit.

One person has been removed from the mountain after suffering a suspected heart attack – while a number of minor incidents have been reported.

Keelan Moran from the Order of Malta says they’re well prepared for all types of incidents.
