Galway Bay fm newsroom – Irish Water has imposed a ‘Do not use water’ notices at an estate in the city amid public health concerns.
Earlier this year, water tankers were placed at Moyola Park following the identification of kerosene in the estate’s water supply.
Residents say that a smell and taste of fuel is evident in the water again in recent days.
The utility has issued a statement to Galway Bay fm News, stating that it has imposed a ‘Do not use water’ notice on the advice of the HSE as a precautionary measure.
Test results from samples taken from houses in the estate last Sunday are not yet available and flushing of the mains is continuing.
The city council is providing bottles of water to vulnerable residents and an alternative water supply will be available this afternoon
