Galway Bay fm newsroom – County Council executives will meet with Athenry Oranmore councillors tomorrow to discuss a road safety strategy for the district.
The executive is being urged to work with councillors to set out a strategic policy for the area, which will focus on areas including busy local roads or ‘rat-runs,’ verge and hedge cutting, and other health and safety issues.
It follows a series of concerns in recent weeks over the condition of roads in the Athenry/Oranmore region – which is the most densely populated of Galway’s five municipal districts.
The meeting will take place at County Hall at noon tomorrow.
Athenry Oranmore area councillor James Charity says there are several serious issues which need to be addressed.
