Galway Bay fm newsroom – There are fears that there’s been a recurrence of serious contamination of the water supply at a city estate.
Earlier this year, water tankers were placed at Moyola Park following the identification of kerosene in the estates water supply.
Irish Water faced serious criticism at that time over it’s response to the crisis – and now concerns are being voiced that the contamination has recurred.
Residents say that a smell and taste of fuel is evident in the water in recent days – and they claim that Irish Water’s response is severely lacking.
The utility has issued a statement to Galway Bay fm News, stating that staff could detect nothing wrong with the water upon investigation, but samples were taken from the properties and the watermain was flushed.
Resident Jim Briscoe says the response to what could be a major health risk is once again unacceptable.
