Galway Bay fm newsroom – Two separate Galway winners have walked away from National Lottery Headquarters with a combined total of over 236 thousand euro.

A lucky family syndicate from Galway scooped over 186 thousand euro after they matched 5 numbers and 1 lucky star in last Friday’s EuroMillions draw.

The ticket was bought in Centra, Northgate Street, Athenry.

The family were unsure of what prize they had won prior to visiting National Lottery offices on Abbey Street in Dublin and they were shocked when Lottery officials told them that their winning ticket was worth €186,974.

One of the winners said, ‘I went into the shop to scan my ticket on the machine and I thought that the machine was broken. It told me to contact National Lottery Headquarters so I wasn’t sure if it was my ticket or the machine which was causing the message. One of the workers in the shop told me that I must have won something so we decided to jump on the train to Dublin to find out. In my head, I thought maybe we might be lucky enough to win around €20,000, so we were absolutely speechless when we were told that we had won nearly €200,000! It will take us some time to get over this shock!’

Meanwhile, another lucky Galway punter is €50,000 richer after he won the jackpot prize on an All Cash Platinum scratch card which he bought at Corrib Oil in Ballinasloe.

The young man, who wishes for his win to remain private will use the money as a deposit for a house, while he will also spend some of the money on small treats for his parents and family.
