Galway Bay fm newsroom – Contractors will return to the unfinished Solas Picture Palace in the city next week to resume work on the long-awaited cultural venue.
The arthouse cinema near Spanish Parade has faced a series of financial and other challenges in recent years, which have resulted in work being stalled on several occasions.
The Solas Picture Palace, when finished, will be run by acclaimed film company, Element Pictures.
The continuation of the work will coincide with the arrival of a panel of European judges as part of Galway’s bid for European Capital of Culture 2020.
City CEO Brendan McGrath says many of the ongoing issues with the venue have been resolved, and it should open to the public early next year.
