Galway Bay fm newsroom – Landmarks in the city and county feature on the first ever Galway Monopoly board which was launched in Kylemore today.
A gigantic 5-foot square replica of the board was unveiled at Kylemore Abbey, complete with enormous dice, top hats and gigantic monopoly money.
Special guests at today’s launch included the costumed and moustached, Mr. Monopoly himself and Miss Galway, Tirna Slevin.
Kylemore Abbey was revealed as the ‘Mayfair of Galway’, while Galway Bay lands on the ‘Park Lane’ site on the board.
CEO of Kylemore Abbey, Pat Lavelle says “it’s wonderful to now have a regional version” of the game and the Abbey being named the ‘Mayfair of Galway’ is an “added bonus.”
The Spanish Arch, which dates back to 1584 is on the Old Kent Road, the most affordable location, while Galway charities, the GSPCA and Galway Autism Partnership also appear.
Monopoly boss, Rob Osborne says a lot of thought went into picking the Galway locations.
