Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway County Council has given the go-ahead for a new access road into Coláiste Báile Chláir in Claregalway.
The new road is intended to serve as the permanent acces route to the school campus.
The current access point through Claregalway Business Park will be closed off once the new entrance is established.
The planning application also outlines plans for a pedestrian and cycleway from Lakeview road to the school site.
Approval was granted earlier this year for a new two-storey building with 17 specialist classrooms and six general classrooms.
Galway County Council has now granted permission for the new entrance with 10 conditions attached.
Chief among these is that public lighting be provided on Lakeview Road between its junction with the N18 and the entrance to the proposed development in the interest of safety.
