Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway City Councillors have backed efforts to prevent the flying of campaign flags and political banners at football matches.
It follows a motion raised by Labour councillor Billy Cameron at this week’s meeting.
He says there has been an increase in the use of flags and banners at football matches in recent months.
He hopes the motion will support Galway United in its efforts to comply with rules and avoid fines.
The Labour councillor says politics and campaigns should be left outside so that fans can focus on football.
