The Galway Magpies hosted Round Three of the ARFLI hoping for their first win of 2016 and achieved this with wins over the South Dublin Swans and the Belfast Redbacks. First up for the Pies were last year’s All Ireland winners The South Dublin Swans. The Swans hit the ground running with a 27 point lead by half time. After a few stern words from the coach the Magpies started the 2nd half with a bit more fight slowly chipping away at the Swans lead. The Magpies went on to kick 8 goals in the second half and kept the Swans scoreless eventually running out 21 point winners.
In the second match of the day the Magpies took on the Belfast Redbacks. Again the Magpies started slowly and the Redbacks got out to a 14 point half time lead. Once again the Magpies seem to get their act together in the second half outscoring the Redbacks 6 goals to 3 eventually winning by 17 points.
