Ballinasloe jobs open opportunities for Galway graduates

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The announcement of 100 jobs for Ballinasloe will open up opportunities for Galway graduates.

That’s according to Martin Shanahan of the IDA who was speaking at the expansion of Lifesciences technology company Surmodics.

The firm is to invest 7 million euro in the Ballinasloe facility after acquiring Creagh Medical last November.

This will expand the current workforce to 132 over the next five years.

Speaking to our reporter Lyndsay Hughes at the announcement, CEO of IDA Ireland Martin Shanahan says the roles will attract graduates from Galway and Athlone.

Minister for Jobs, Mary Mitchell O’ Connor says the expansion shows a vote of confidence in rural Galway and the west.

She has vowed to place a renewed focus on smaller enterprise and rural Ireland.
