Galway Bay fm newsroom – There are more plans to tackle the shortage of student accommodation in the city.

CWC Webworks Limited has applied for planning permission for a five-storey block of managed student accommodation at Fairgreen Road.

The development would be on a site with a total gross floor space of 5 thousand 700 square metres.

It would be a 6-storey block in total, including ground floor level providing for managed student accommodation and associated facilities.

The ground level would be an extension of the existing coach station at Fairgreen Road which has been previously granted planning permission.

The accommodation will be made up of 46 units ranging from 1 to 6 bed units, providing a total bed space of 147 within the block.

Communal areas would also be provided.

This latest application to build student accommodation in the city comes in the same week that the city council has granted planning permission for student accommodation in Bohermore.

IVS Student Development Bohermore Limited has been granted approval to transform a vacant 3-storey office building into 77 student and self catering apartments.
