Galway Bay fm newsroom – Three names with Galway connections have appeared in Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s list of his 11 appointments to the 25th Seanad.
Businessman and former Aer Arann boss Pádraig O’Céidigh has been appointed to an Oireachtas position, as has city native and advocate for Irish Immigrants businessman Billy Lawless.
Six of those appointed are former Fine Gael TDs – and include former Mayo TD John O’Mahony, who failed in his bid to be elected in Galway West/South Mayo.
The other Fine Gael appointments are James Reilly, Paudie Coffey, Michelle Mulherrin, Ray Butler, and Frankie Feighan.
Five of the appointees are independents and include Joan Freeman the founder of Pieta House, Colette Kelleher the CEO of Alzheimers Ireland and former Senator Marie Louise O’Donnell.
