Galway Bay fm newsroom – The County Council is being urged to challenge Fáilte Ireland’s approach to tourism in East Galway.
Loughrea area councillor Jimmy McClearn says the tourism body is focused entirely on the Wild Atlantic Way and the Ancient East – and anywhere in between is being forgotten.
He says five years ago, Fáilte Ireland came up with a plan for the lakes and waterways of Ireland, which would benefit areas such as Loughrea, Portumna and Ballinasloe.
However, this plan never materialised.
Councillor McClearn has put forward a motion calling on the County Council to contact Fáilte Ireland with a view to securing promotional ventures for the East and South Galway region.
