More than 150 thousand euro for Galway TDs who served on councils

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A total of 152 thousand euro in gratuity payments will go to newly elected Galway TDs who previously served as councillors.

Deputies Catherine Connolly, Seán Canney and Eugene Murphy are all entitled to the payments in respect of their time served on local authorities.
Fianna Fáil T.D for Galway-Roscommon Eugene Murphy is due to get a gratuity payment of 59 thousand euro after serving as a county councillor in Roscommon for more than 30 years.

He plans to donate some of the payment to local charity causes.

Meanwhile, Independent Galway-West / South Mayo T.D Catherine Connolly is entitled to a payment of 56 thousand 500 euro for her time on the city council.

Newly elected Galway East Independent T.D Seán Canney, who served on Galway County Council is in line for a payment of 38 thousand 800 euro.

The only other first time T.D elected in the Galway constituencies, Fianna Fáil’s Anne Rabbitte is not entitled to any gratuity payment for her time on the county council as she was just elected in 2014.
