Connacht have secured a top-four finish in the Pro12 with a game to spare, but their hopes of a home semi-final have taken a beating. Pat Lam’s side had to settle for a losing bonus-point last night (Friday) in Italy after Treviso full-back Jayden Hayward kicked a huge penalty almost from the half-way line with the final kick of the match to snatch victory from Connacht’s grasp. It finished 22-21 to the Italian side and Connacht will now slip to third place in the table behind Leinster, who play today, and Glasgow, who racked-up a bonus-point win over Zebre last night ahead of their trip to The Sportsground next week.
