Galway Bay fm newsroom – County Councillors have raised concerns over the recently-approved Dunkellin flood relief scheme.
The matter has been raised at this morning’s meeting of the local authority.
Loughrea area councillor Michael ‘Moegie’ Maher says a recent public meeting in Gort revealed a lot of concern among South Galway residents about the scheme.
He says they want clarity on the exact works that will be carried out under the long-awaited programme of flood mitigation measures.
Councillor Michael ‘Stroke’ Fahy says the scheme should include the Rinn Bridge – and if the bridge isn’t widened, Craughwell village will be ‘wiped out.’
Director of Services Liam Gavin says the Rinn Bridge is included in the scheme – and further clarification will be provided to Loughrea district councillors in the coming weeks.
