Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway City Council is being accused of leaving the Ballinfoile community ‘in the dark’ over the controversial new neighbourhood centre.
Community activists claim repeated requests to visit the long awaited center and discuss community representation have been completely ignored.
They say people in the Ballinfoile Mor area have dedicated 30 years of their lives working towards the new centre – but now that it’s built they’re being left ‘in the dark’.
It comes as the new facility faces further obstacles in securing staff, despite being granted special permission to bypass a recruitment embargo.
A recent meeting of Galway City Council was told staff for new centres at Ballinfoile and Knocknacarra could cost almost half a million euro – and the money will not be easy to find.
Brendan Smith from the Ballinfoile Mor RAPID committee says the local community needs to be involved.
