Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Department of Agriculture has confirmed that it has launched an investigation into the neglect of horses at Briarhill in the city.
The matter was investigated by the GSPCA earlier this week, who passed the case onto the Department due to the number of animals involved.
It’s understood there are a significant number of carcasses at the site, while a further number of horses remain in various states of neglect.
Rescue Charity Hungry Horse Outside has visited the site, and is describing it as a nightmare of cruelty and neglect.
It’s been rescuing the remaining horses at the site over the past number of days, but says a number of the animals are proving difficult to reach.
